Packing your maternity or hospital bag

It is a good idea whilst pregnant and expecting your new little addition, about two to three weeks before your due date to sort out a hospital bag. You can never be sure when that baby will decide he is ready to come and see the world so get all those essentials packed away in your hospital bag ensuring you are fully prepared with everything you need for when you go into labour and for your hospital stay. Getting your hospital bag prepared early is the best choice you can make so there is no last minute rushing around or leaving things to your other half, (who I can guarantee will forget at least a hair brush!) to randomly shove items of maternity clothes and the rest in to your hospital/maternity bag. Remember not to pack so much into your maternity bag that you will not be able to fit the items into the cabinet next to your hospital bed. The following is a check list of what to put into your hospital bag:

Birth Plan
Digital watch to time contractions
Digital camcorder
Magazines (Things to entertain you!)
Toiletries
Dressing gown
Slippers
Socks
T shirt
Massage oil
Lip balm
Snacks and drinks
A Fan
Music and MP3 Player
Going-home outfit,
Nursing bras
Breast pads
Maternity pads
Toiletries
Towels,
Hairbrush,
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Disposable knickers
Money for phone and TV cards

Also remember to pack all you need for your new arrival, these will include all clothing items, blankets etc for your little one to return home in. Also try and purchase a maternity/hospital bag that you will be able to get use out of in the future. Maternity Bags come in all sorts of funky and trendy designs now so make sure you choose the correct maternity bag for you.
